Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for using TrueJson. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using truejson.com, the TrueJson web editor, the TrueJson API or the TrueJson Chrome extension (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization.

2. What the Service provides

TrueJson is a set of tools for working with JSON: formatting, validating, comparing, converting, filtering, sorting, schema and mock-data generation, and related features.

The tools that run in your browser are free to use. Free use is supported by advertising. Paid plans remove advertising and add features that need our servers, such as saved files, version history, document sharing and API access. Current plans and prices are shown on our pricing page.

3. Accounts

Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live to create an account.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the JSON and other content you enter, upload, save or share. You give us only the limited permission needed to run the Service for you, for example to store a file you chose to save, to generate a share link you created, or to return the result of an API request.

You are responsible for your content and for having the right to use it. Do not put secrets you are not permitted to store, such as other people's passwords or confidential data you have no right to handle, into saved or shared documents.

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: break the law using the Service; attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' data or our systems; interfere with or overload the Service; reverse engineer parts of the Service that are not meant to be open; use automated means to scrape the Service beyond what the published API permits; or use the Service to store or share unlawful, harmful or infringing material.

If you use the API, you must stay within the rate limits and usage rules of your plan, and keep your API keys private.

6. Advertising

The free version of the Service shows advertisements provided by third parties, including Google AdSense. We do not control the content of those advertisements, and your dealings with advertisers are between you and them. Paid plans do not show ads. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies are used and how you can manage them.

7. Paid plans and billing

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, at the price shown when you subscribe. A subscription stays active until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and your account then returns to the free plan.

Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card details. Taxes may be added where required. We may change prices for future billing periods, and will give notice before a change applies to you.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, for example for hosting, sign-in, email, payments and advertising. Their own terms and policies apply to your use of their services.

9. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its design, software, text and branding, belongs to TrueJson and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service; they do not transfer any ownership to you.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and accurate, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we will try to give notice of changes that significantly affect paying customers.

11. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Always keep your own backups of important data, and check the output of conversion and generation tools before relying on it.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrueJson will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or business arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or, for free users, to a nominal amount. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from your profile. We may suspend or end access to the Service if you break these terms, put the Service or other users at risk, or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should continue to apply after termination will do so.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date below, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the updated terms.

15. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to support@truejson.com. You can also visit our Contact page.
